2015 Advent Missions Special Offering

This year our special offering during Advent will go towards a local and a global mission opportunity. In thinking about the Advent Sermon Series, "The Gift" we remember that Jesus gave us the ultimate gift of himself, therefore all other gift giving flows out of that love He has shown us. Your gifts will touch lives and give hope to those in need.

Giving Options:
• Memorial / Honorarium Forms are available in the Great Hall
• Give Online
* Give thru the Mobile App (CUMCJXN)

Below are the ways that your gifts will be utilized:

Africa University Partnership:

The Global Mission emphasis is to fund scholarships for students who would like to attend Africa University in Zimbabwe. Africa University is a vibrant and impactful ministry of The United Methodist Church. It currently has thousands of full-time students that represent 25 of Africa's 55 countries. Growth of this ministry is due to the Holy Spirit guided vision, faith filled commitment of leaders, and steadfast investment by friends and partners within the United Methodist Church and beyond.

We have taken the challenge to pursue endowing a full scholarship, committing the next two years to give at least $130,000 to provide an unending opportunity for students to attend Africa University and make a difference in their countries and in the world. We pray that you will join this effort through generous giving.

Grace House - Methodist Children's Homes of Mississippi:
The Local Mission emphasis is to fund a specific project at Methodist Children's Homes in Jackson. Christ United has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children! We are partnering with other area churches to help with the newest project at MCH to renovate the "Grace House".  Creating a safe haven for children with special needs and those who have been rescued from human trafficking is already underway but approximately $100,000 is needed to complete the project and make ready to receive children. Christ United is working with other churches to aid in the completion of this Methodist Children's Home project. The MCH has been providing care and love for children and families in Mississippi since 1896. This ministry has a mission of bringing hope to hurting children and providing a safe environment in order for them to grow up, be nurtured, heal and thrive through provision, guidance and counseling.
