Mothers of Preschoolers

Have you ever felt alone?  Most of us at some point in our lives have felt the need to have someone come along side us and say “me too”.  The MOPS group at CUMC provides that for many Mothers of Preschoolers.  Through relationships with other Moms, this group is designed to network about resources, tools, and lifelines to conquer their common struggles and challenges.  The gatherings are usually full of emotion!  Some Moms are full of enthusiastic chatter, exhilarated just to be speaking with another adult!  Some ladies come in with the weary look of exhaustion and fatigue brought on by the constant demands of young children.  New Moms often enter, unsure, pensive, but hopeful of finding acceptance. They are met with warm coffee and introductions to friendly faces.  It doesn’t take long before they jump right in and share their latest tale of “terrible two’s” or potty crisis.  Motherhood breaks down many barriers!

Ultimately, we hope to point moms to their true lifeline, Jesus!  In addition to MOPS some of the women take part in other in-depth Bible studies.  For some, the MOPS resources online as well as the videos and devotions shared at meetings are a new encounter with Jesus.  Because MOPS is an international Christian organization the curriculum is relevant, can be trusted, and requires little preparation for the leaders.

Our meeting time is spent with food and fellowship, business spotlights, devotionals from the MOPS curriculum, group mission projects, guest speakers on Mom related topics such as parenting, personality types, marriage, self defense and crafts.  Outside the regularly scheduled meetings, the MOPS group will gather for play dates at local parks, museums, libraries etc. and meet up for Moms Night Out.  MOPS is also available to celebrate and support one another through new births, death and illnesses.  Prayer is also a key component  of the time together and lists are circulated so that the ladies can come along side one another in their praises and prayer needs.

MOPS exists for you. Being a mom is beautiful and hard and we get that sometimes you just need a safe space to breathe. A place to get some encouragement that what you are doing matters. MOPS Membership provides resources and some fun goodies that remind you that you are important and we are all in this together.   See all the membership facts by clicking here.

During our MOPS meetings, your children will be lovingly cared for and participating in age appropriate activities by the Children’s Ministry staff.

The yearly dues are approximately $75.00 per year and they are due upon registration. MOPS International receives $32.95 and the remainder goes to the Christ United group to cover childcare cost, buy craft supplies, speaker gifts, and other needed supplies.
