We often tell our loved ones to “be careful” when going on a journey... large or small. We hear moms telling her young child, “Be careful when you cross the street.” However, how many times do we tell our loved ones to “be careful” to do what is written in God’s Word?
That is exactly what our Creator told Joshua, “Be careful to do everything written in it (the Book of the Law).” That is also what the Lord has put on the hearts of the student ministry concerning Sunday school education. Common Ground, the student Sunday school gathering, is designed to inspire 6th grade - college-aged students to “be careful” to do what Scripture teaches.
During this gathering, students are taught how to study the Bible. The goal is not for the teachers to “feed” them the Scriptures, but to enable the students to “feed” themselves. “You can fish for someone and they will have food for the night or you can teach someone how to fish and they will have food for a lifetime.” That is our goal for the students of Common Ground!
All of our teachers shared not only the gospel of God but their lives as well! Many teachers took their class to lunch or invited students into their homes for fellowship. Others celebrated Christmas parties and giving to Angel Tree! Our teachers were also encouraged to pray for their students and contact them during the week by visiting them at school events, by phone or email!
