Scripture
John 14:27
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Prayer
God, give us peace and make us whole – physically, spiritually and emotionally. Heal emotional scars from our past and help us forgive those who haunt our memories with unpleasant experiences. Fill our loneliness with people who lift our spirits and give us encouragement. Make CUMC a place of safe fellowship, where everyone feels comfortable and welcomed. Show us how to inspire those who feel hopeless and discouraged by showing compassion, acceptance and leading them to you. Lord, bless leaders who work with our youth that they might be a source of solace, and mentors to our children and teens who much need direction and instruction as they learn about friendships, relationships, stress, anger, shame, worthlessness and other anxieties that often accompany maturing. Please bring comfort and encouragement to them and lift their hearts and spirits. Bring conviction to those with addictions and with physical and mental disorders that cause their lives to be chaotic. Heal families who are dysfunctional and where turmoil rules and contentment is absent in the home. Help parents deal with hopelessness, anxiousness and excessive worry.
Jesus, we know you understand emotional wounds. You experienced emotions and you understood suffering, aloneness, sadness and anger at times. Lord, you are our comforter, our counselor, our hope and our healer. You are faithful to your people and you give us love, strength and the promise of everlasting life, where we will experience emotional pain no more. God, thank you for caring! Amen
