This ministry of Christ United diligently seeks to identify, develop, and expand resources to meet the needs of our congregation and community. We are committed to accompanying anyone in need with prayer, support, and other acts of kindness. Occasions may arise in which various circumstances necessitate different types of support, guidance, and encouragement. If you or a loved one needs pastoral care, please call the pastoral care line at 601-956-2211 or the church at 601-956-6974. Caring for Others

Stephen Ministry

The Stephen Ministry equips volunteers to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.  Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and the details of the discussions within each caring relationship remains private. If you or someone you know could benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister, please contact us. Griefshare

The days, weeks, and months following the death of a loved one can be particularly difficult. Sometimes feelings of grief may last more than several months or the feelings of grief may not begin until over a year after the death of a loved one. GriefShare is a ministry of the church providing a weekly class for members of the church and the community. The class uses the GriefShare program which follows a 13-week curriculum to provide support and encouragement. Participants may begin attending the class at any time. The GriefShare class is offered both in-person and online.

DIVORCECARE

Divorce can be one of the most difficult experiences faced by a family. The impact of divorce extends far beyond the couple who are ending their marriage. Christ United offers weekly DivorceCare classes at the church. The class uses the DivorceCare program which includes a 13-week curriculum, an accompanying workbook, and extensive online resources. Participants may begin attending the class at any time. Childcare is also available. If you or someone you know would benefit from participation in this ministry of the church, please contact us at  .

Prayer Ministry

Prayers & Squares Quilts

Beautiful quilts that are made by members of the church are hung in the prayer room. A knot is tied in each of the threads on the quilt to represent a prayer you have offered. When all threads are knotted, the quilt is presented to the recipient who is literally “covered in prayer.” To request a prayer quilt, fill out the request card in the prayer box beside the prayer room.

Prayer Room Intercessors Ministry

Volunteers commit to a special hour each week to come to the Prayer Room to pray for each of the requests that have been submitted during the week. Postcards are sent on behalf of the church to each person for whom we have prayed. Encouraging scriptures are also included on each postcard.

Cancer Prayer Partners & Support

A volunteer from the church is matched to a cancer patient who has requested prayer. The volunteer prays with the patient throughout their treatment and recovery for one-to-one support.

Hedge Prayer Team

Each Sunday, volunteers go to the Prayer Room and pray for the pastors, worship leaders, and congregation during the worship service, covering every aspect of the service with a hedge of protection through prayer. The volunteers commit to pray for one month per year, for 30 minutes during the worship service. The worship bulletin serves as a guide for the prayer team.
