Senior Adult
Mission
The mission of Senior Adult Ministry (also known as Mature Adult Ministries) within the vision and mission of Christ United is to reach out to inspire, support, guide, nurture, and engage Senior Adults of Christ United and our community. While individuals who are 60 and over are the primary focus of this ministry of the church, we also encourage and acknowledge the participation of individuals over 60 in many of the ministry areas of the church. In other words, intergenerational ministries are valued and encouraged along with age-specific ministries.
Worship
Every member of the church is expected to support the church through their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Our faith is nurtured through our participation in weekly worship services and through participation in small groups and other ministries. We participate in worship services both in-person and virtually. Regardless of your physical location, we encourage active and frequent participation in the ministries of the church and worship services are the primary ways in which the community of faith is formed and strengthened.
Study Groups for senior Adults
Christ United offers various opportunities for senior adults to grow spiritually. In addition to Sunday School classes and small groups, senior adults are encouraged to participate in the Women in the Word Bible Study, Bible Study Fellowship, Early Morning Men’s Bible Study Groups, and United Women in Faith.
Fellowship
Routine opportunities for fellowship, characterized by learning, laughter, and encouragement, are frequently offered at Christ United. MountainTop is a special ministry of the church that provides monthly luncheons that feature a wide range of speakers, musicians, artists, and other professionals who present inspiring displays of gifts, talents, and vocations. MountainTop Excursions are special trips offered several times yearly to interesting and relevant sites throughout the state to allow additional opportunities for growth, reflection, and inspiration. Furthermore, weekly gatherings for fellowship (such as the Retired Men’s Coffee Group) are offered both on the church campus and other locations around the metropolitan area.
Wellness Ministries
Faith and Fitness is an exercise class for senior adults that is offered several times each week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) in the Youth Worship Center from 10:30-11:30am. This special class is designed for adaptable physical activity according to each participant’s level of comfort. These exercises help increase balance, strength, and flexibility. Deep Stretch provides an additional half-hour of exercises prior to each Faith and Fitness class.
